To maintain the brightness of your silver jewelry, avoid excessive exposure to Perfume, Water, Bleaches, Lotions, other strong chemicals, and the Sun. We recommend storing your silver jewelry in the box provided by Galle to keep it safe. Dry and polish your silver with a soft cloth. This will remove tarnish and restore its shine.
The First Rule of Silver Care
Silver tends to tarnish when exposed to salty air, sweat, and products containing sulfur. However, regularly used silver generally requires less maintenance. Therefore, Galle strongly recommends wearing your Galle silver jewelry daily.
Special Considerations
Oxidized coating is intentionally darkened to highlight the crevices and decorative details of a silver object more clearly. Be careful as excessive cleaning and polishing may remove this coating.
Storage of Silver Products
Silver must be kept dry. If your silver is used frequently, store it in a way that minimizes exposure to air. Store your Galle silver in the silver storage box provided along with a tarnish-resistant cloth.
How can I use my pure silver products with oxidized coating?
Oxidized silver is intentionally darkened, creating a black sheen for an antique or faded look. The care instructions for oxidized silver differ from traditional, non-oxidized silver materials.
Avoid using silver polish as it will strip the oxidized surface of the silver. Instead, clean your oxidized silver with a dry and clean cloth to prevent scratching. Only clean oxidized silver when necessary.
How often should I polish my silver?
Polishing silver is done to prevent tarnishing and to bring out its shine, and should only be done a few times over the lifetime of a piece. This is because polishing removes metal from the piece each time it's done.
Galle offers professional polishing and coating services for a fee. The completion of polishing services takes up to two weeks.
